This Apple Smoothie is different. It’s WARM! A new healthy trend in breakfast smoothies geared for the colder months.
Big chunks of fresh apple mixed with seasonal cider and spiced tea. This smoothie is meant to warm you up and keep those smoothies going all winter long!

It’s easy to forget that tea can make really flavorful smoothies like my Moroccan Mint Strawberry Smoothie. Strong teas will give you the best flavor. Two favorites that I use for this recipe are Hot Cinnamon or Caramel Chai.
You can use any tea you have in your pantry – the best will be cinnamon spiced or fruity teas or maybe apple cinnamon tea! Just pick one that’s strong enough to add flavor to your smoothie. That holds true for your apple cider as well. Get a cider from your local farmer, it’s guaranteed to not be full of additives and have 10x the flavor of any store brand. Believe me, I’ve tried it.
I prefer Zhena’s tea because it’s fair trade and they carry coconut, hazelnut and caramel chai! Harney’s hot cinnamon tea is so delicious you’ll crave it all winter long and they also have a really nice chai.

To prepare this smoothie, first steep your choice of hot tea. While waiting for the tea, prep all the other ingredients and add them into a blender. Add the tea and blend until creamy!

- 1 cup freshly steeped chai tea or cinnamon spiced tea
- ⅓ cup quick oats
- ½ cup fresh apple cider (no additives)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 2 small fresh apples, quartered
- 1 Tbs honey
- 1 Tbs fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp ground flax seed
- pinch of salt
- Brew 1 chai tea bag in hot water. Set aside to prepare other ingredients while it steeps.
- Stir quick oats and apple cider in a microwave safe dish. Heat 60 sec, until oats have softened and absorbed most of the liquid, you still want it to be a little loose (add a tablespoon more cider if you need to).
- Once hot tea is ready, place ⅓ cup of the tea in a blender with cooked oats and remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add more hot tea to get to desired thickness.
- Sprinkle top with cinnamon and get on with your morning!

Mmmmm these sounds delicious, not seen anything like this before, thanks for sharing 🙂
